Illustrations made for BBDO for their client Exxon Mobil. Check out the final image on Exxon's website here. The goal was to visualize key moments in the creation of various fuel types when the raw petroleum interacts with synthetic zeolite which is the model seen below.

What is Zeolite? What does it look like under a microscope? Zeolites are minerals mostly containing aluminum and silicon compounds. They have a variety of market applications including detergents and air purifiers.

Since the process occurs on a microscopic level I felt it led to a good opportunity to be able to really play with a number of different materials and looks.
